Intention Labs is the core engineering team developing both the Intention protocol — the deterministic kernel, the BFT consensus layer, and the protocol-native trading primitives — and Intention Exchange, the flagship perpetual futures DEX (app.intention.xyz) that is the first application to run on top of the protocol. The team’s focus is on correctness, performance, and the long-term goal of making open financial markets a property of the protocol rather than of any application built on top of it.

What we work on

  • IntentionKernel. The deterministic state-transition kernel that executes typed financial primitives.
  • IntentionBFT. The HotStuff-family consensus protocol with canonical sequencing, in-consensus price quorums, and batch availability decoupling.
  • Protocol-native trading engine. The on-chain central limit order book, margin engine, liquidation pipeline, and funding system — all running as protocol state machines inside IntentionKernel, not as application contracts.
  • Intention Exchange. The flagship perpetual futures DEX at app.intention.xyz — the first application to expose the L1’s protocol-native primitives to traders.
  • Tooling. The Differential Test Harness, the Verifiable Execution Stream, validator software, and the developer SDKs that will accompany the public API.

Design rationale

Intention’s design rationale is documented at length in the project whitepaper, which is available on request from contact@intention.xyz. The implementation itself is closed-source: the protocol’s external behavior, guarantees, and integration surfaces are documented in this site, and that is where every public-facing question about Intention is meant to be answered.
